What we do
- Text and controls are checked for contrast in both the dark and the light theme. White text on orange is always bold and 21px or larger.
- Every control can be reached and used with the keyboard, with a visible orange focus ring. A “Skip to content” link starts every page.
- Buttons, links and form fields are at least 44 by 44 pixels, the touch minimum.
- Pages use landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), one h1 and ordered headings, and descriptive link text.
- Images carry text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Motion respects the “reduce motion” setting. With it on, nothing scrolls, slides or animates.
- Pages work at phone width and when text is enlarged, without sideways scrolling.
- You choose dark or light with the theme button; it starts from your system setting.
What we test
Each release is checked on desktop and phone widths, in both themes, with scripts for colour contrast, touch-target size and horizontal overflow, plus a keyboard-only pass through navigation, search and forms.
Known gaps
- Embedded third-party content (YouTube videos, Ghost articles imported from the blog) is controlled by its provider or its author and may fall short, for example missing captions or alt text on older posts.
- The Maps, Flows and Data apps are separate products with their own accessibility; this statement covers this website.
